Introduce the difference between battery and fuel power cell
A fuel power cell is an energy conversion device that must have energy (fuel) input during operation to produce electrical energy. An ordinary battery is an energy storage device. Electrical energy must be stored in the battery first. It can only output electrical energy during operation. No energy is input during operation, and no electrical energy appears. This is the essential difference between a fuel power battery and an ordinary battery.
Once the technical performance of the fuel power cell is determined, the electric energy that it can appear is only related to the supply of fuel. As long as the fuel is supplied, electric energy can appear, and its discharge characteristics are continuous. After the technical performance of the ordinary battery is determined, it can only output electric energy within its rated range, and it must be repeatedly charged before it can be reused, and its discharge characteristics are intermittent.
The mass and volume of the fuel power cell body is not large, but the fuel power cell needs a set of fuel storage device or fuel conversion device and auxiliary equipment to obtain hydrogen, and the mass and volume of these fuel storage device or fuel conversion device and auxiliary equipment far exceed the fuel power cell itself. In the working process, the fuel will gradually consume with the appearance of the electric energy of the fuel power cell, gradual reduction in mass (referring to on-board limited fuel). Ordinary batteries have no other auxiliary equipment. After the technical performance is determined, whether it is fully charged or discharged, the quality and volume of the battery are basically unchanged.
Fuel power batteries convert chemical energy into electrical energy, and ordinary batteries also convert chemical energy into electrical energy. This is what they have in common. However, when electrical energy appears in fuel power batteries, the reaction substances that participate in the reaction are continuously after the reaction. Consumption is no longer reused. Therefore, it is required to continuously input reaction substances. The active material of the ordinary battery changes with the charge and discharge of the battery. The active material repeatedly performs reversible chemical changes. The active material is not consumed, as long as some electrolyte and other substances are added.
